Hey Michael. Nice summary of your work flow. I saw yPresent.ly's GitHub tool. I'm sure there will be more.

I think one reason we're staying with Campfire is that we only need the information in one place. The kind of information we share when we're mobile tends to be much more about fire fighting and thus, is done with frantic phone calls. Nothing asynchronous about it.

Hi, I'm one of the developers on Present.ly. This popped up in my Google Alerts and you share some interesting opinions. We also have Campfire at Intridea, but we found that there were still communications gaps.

Campfire's great when you're always watching it, but we've found Present.ly to be much more useful for the passive updates (GitHub has a built-in hook to Present.ly and it's easy to write additional ones using our Twitter-compatible API). Our team is all over the country and we don't work strict 8-5 schedules so the constant awareness is key to keeping up to date. Present.ly is also accessible via IM and mobile, which is a real advantage for us.

We still use Campfire, but we now use it mostly after an update on Present.ly (i.e. "Can anyone who knows xxx well jump on Campfire for a minute?").

This post is so much more interesting than its title! (Not that it's a bad title...I just didn't think it would hold much of interest to me personally, and I was wrong). Really excellent writing...I like your deliberate blog.
