Interview with Mark Mangano of Salesforce Watch and Scott Hemmeter of Perspectives on Salesforce

Mark Mangano is the author of Sales Force Watch, the top blog for independent Sales Force News, and Scott Hemmeter is the author of the Perspectives on Salesforce blog and also a successful Salesforce consultant.

I was at the Dreamforce ‘06 Conference investigating AppExchange, Saleforce.com’s 3rd party development and distribution platform because I was curious about opportunities for lone consultants and very small companies to produce software for the business web.

Scott and Mark were kind enough to talk to me about how many of the barriers to entry have dropped and how easy it is to get started in this world.

The Creators of the Redneck Pool Heater

Todd Harrison is a redneck engineer. Veronica Harrison is an eighth grade robotics and electronics hacker. They teamed up to add heat exchange coils to a gas grill in order to heat their swimming pool. The best part is that their contraption breaks back down to regular grill in minutes so that they can serve burgers at the requisite pool party.

John Davi, Communications Director of CalCars.org, talks about the challenges of getting manufacturers to produce plug-in hybrids, cars that run 100% electric for local travel but still have unlimited gasoline range. I caught up with him at Maker Faire while he was making a documentary on how to do your own plug-in hybrid Prius conversion.

Interview Dorrian Porter, CEO of Mozes
